Friday Food File: Easy Tips To Start Baking

Hi, how's it going?

As I spoke in my previous post about starting to cook, baking is definitely the same in the  daunting situation. There is still the a different variety you can bake- cakes, cookies, slices, pies etc but a lot sweeter and spice.

Here I have come with another post of easy tips this time baking!

Measure out ingredients:
The first thing you should do is measure out every ingredient  on the ingredient list before baking. This will make baking easier so your not doing everything at once.

Example: if a recipe says eggs lightly beaten- crack the egg into separate bowl and whisked. It's quite simple.

Read the recipe carefully:
When I'm finding a new baking recipe or reading through my baking book I read the recipe carefully. It's good to read  to check if you don't have a certain item or type of method you haven't done.

Form a routine:
When you have the ingredients ready to go, read the recipe get into forming your own baking routine. Make the routine simple:

Preheat oven, measure ingredients, bake and place in the oven, clean dishes, make icing etc.

Don't overthink:
When it comes to decorating, you don't need to overthink it needs to be perfect have fun!

What are your baking tips?

Friday Food File: Easy Tips To Start Cooking

Hi, how it's going?

Starting or learning to cook can be daunting but it doesn't have to be. I thought I would share some tips on how to get into cooking:

Start small:
Find a meal that is simple and easy to make, with small amount of ingredients. They could be:
  • Scramble eggs
  • Toasted sandwiches
  • Homemade pizzas.
These meals are not only simple but they have a variety of skills you learn straight away. The scramble eggs for example, involve cracking eggs, whisking, measuring and stirring. See? When you make a easy meal you learn new skills straight away!

    Get a partner:
Cooking with someone  that you know can cook is ideal whilst starting out is fun and helpful! Getting together with someone like a friend, sibling or parents ( for me it's my mum) would make it fun and create memories along the way.

    Find a recipe:
When it comes to researching and finding one recipe to cook, firstly ask yourself  this question: "What you would like to cook?

The sky is the limit now with finding recipes. There are many options in finding a single recipe either online or printed. Here a quick list of where you can find recipes:
    • Cookbooks
    • Food websites and blogs
    • YouTube videos
    • Family and friends recipes.
    • Social Media: Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter

    Have Fun:
The most important thing to remember when learning to start cooking is to have fun! If you burn food, forget to add a ingredient or it doesn't taste good its not the end of the world because its all part of learning! Don't pressure or be hard on yourself- which I have done a few times . It's ok to do it all over again!

      Two Monthly Favourites Mash up:

      Hi how’s it going?

It’s March already?? This is my first monthly favourites post and I wanted to do a mash up over the last two months. Here is what have been my favourites in food, movies, music and make up over the last two months:
      Food:
I have recently been finding new recipes that are vegetarian based meals. We needed to change up our weekly dinner menu because we are stuck with what’s for dinner. I have cooked a vegetarian chili and chickpea curry.
      TV/Movies:
On a Sunday after a night out with a small hangover I learnt the true definition of Netflix and Chill. I have binge watched:
      • Designated Survivor.
      • Riverdale.
      Music:
I have been listening to a few new songs on repeat which includes Ed Sheeran, Little Mix, Kyo, Dua Lipa  and Machine Gun Kelly. I'm looking forward to hearing Ed Sheeran new album!
      Make up:
I have been recently using a couple of new make up products as well as using a lipstick my sister gave me:

      Monthly Favourites!

      • Nude by Nature Champagne Gold Highlighter
      • L'OrĂ©al Pure Clay Mask
      • MAC Dare You Lipstick with matching lip liner.
I have enjoyed wearing new products and changing my make up routine abit. I want to do more exploring but not dramatic though but we will see.

What are your favourites from January and February?
