Chocolate Chip Cookies

Hi how's it going?

I love cookies and baking them, whenever I have a social gathering to go to I always bake and they have become my famous cookies. My mum the other day said while we were talking about what to bring for a picnic

1 teaspoon vanilla essence
1 1/2 cup of self-raising flour.
1 packet of Cadbury chocolate chips.

2. Beat butter and sugar together.
3. Add in egg and vanilla essence
4. Beat together for a minute
5. Shift flour into batter and add the chocolate chips
6. Mix together.
7. Using teaspoons, place spoonsful of cookie mixture onto baking tray.
8. Put into oven and bake for 15 minutes.
9.Take them out and let them cool.

Now eat them with milk, tea, coffee!

Friday Food File: Easy Tips To Start Baking

Hi, how's it going?

As I spoke in my previous post about starting to cook, baking is definitely the same in the  daunting situation. There is still the a different variety you can bake- cakes, cookies, slices, pies etc but a lot sweeter and spice.

Here I have come with another post of easy tips this time baking!

Measure out ingredients:
The first thing you should do is measure out every ingredient  on the ingredient list before baking. This will make baking easier so your not doing everything at once.

Example: if a recipe says eggs lightly beaten- crack the egg into separate bowl and whisked. It's quite simple.

Read the recipe carefully:
When I'm finding a new baking recipe or reading through my baking book I read the recipe carefully. It's good to read  to check if you don't have a certain item or type of method you haven't done.

Form a routine:
When you have the ingredients ready to go, read the recipe get into forming your own baking routine. Make the routine simple:

Preheat oven, measure ingredients, bake and place in the oven, clean dishes, make icing etc.

Don't overthink:
When it comes to decorating, you don't need to overthink it needs to be perfect have fun!

What are your baking tips?

Friday Food File: Afghans Biscuits

Hi, how's it going?
Growing up my mum would bake  different kinds of cakes, biscuits slices etc. One of my favourite is Afghans biscuits. Their cocoa and cornflakes mixed together with a chocolate icing and coconut. It's so good, here's the recipe below:

Afghans Biscuits

Ingredients:
150g butter
1/3 cup of brown sugar
1 egg lightly beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup plain flour
2 tablespoon of cocoa
1/3 cup coconut
1 1/2 cup of cornflakes

How to make it:
1. Preheat oven to 180c and lay out trays with baking paper.

2. Cream butter and sugar in a bowl, then add egg and vanilla beat until mixed together.

3.Add the sifted flour and cocoa along with cornflakes and coconut.

4. Once mixed together, put spoonful of mixture onto the oven tray. Then put in the oven for 20 minutes.

5. Then to make icing: add icing sugar, cocoa and abit of milk. Mix together until it becomes thick, adding milk at a small portion at a time.

6. Spread the icing over the biscuit and sprinkle or dip in coconut.

Enjoy x.

What are your childhood biscuit recipes?

P.S I have changed the name of food related post from foodie Friday to Friday food file!

Love Jordyn
