Essential Baking Cookbook Review

Hi, how's it going?

If your lover of baking like myself, every time I go into a bookstore I go straight to the cooking and baking section. Their have been so many cookbooks that have been published this year and the numbers are growing.

I was given the Essential Baking book as a birthday gift and have been using it ever since. The book is a everything to know about baking (just like the title essential) with recipes that have a variety of sweet and savoury.

Every chapter is divided into different baking treats- cakes, muffins, breads, pastries etc.  The chapter gives a detail description about each treat, how to cook, modifying recipes etc.

The book is filled with clear and well written method with beautiful pictures that are give myself inspiration material (wink wink).

I have made a few recipes from this book including- apple and cinnamon muffins, banana bread, afghans, blueberry muffins. I believe it's a good book to buy because with 200 recipes and easy method to follow it a bible for all bakers or first time bakers.

Do you have any good baking cookbooks?

Friday Food File: Finding New Eating Places

Hi, all how's it going?

Have you ever become bored of going to the same places to eat and drink for a catch up with family or friends? Not because the food or service isn't great but you want a change of scenery, explore a different area of your city or try something new food or drink wise.

Here are some ways to find new eating then I have ideas of where you can find new eating places:

Instagram Accounts:
Now days, cafes and restaurants are creating Instagram accounts to promote their business and get customers into their places.  I follow Breakfast in Perth and the Breakfast Confidential accounts because I love and enjoy going out for breakfast around Perth.

These are other cafĂ© accounts I follow that are worth checking out:
Tropico
Little h
Dejaxo

Ask around:
Word of mouth is powerful and useful. I ask family and friends a lot about  new places to go out to eat, it never what type of cuisine no matter. When I'm talking to others for example at the gym if were having a conversation about the restaurants or cafes I quickly write down or research the places they talk about.

Explore:
Exploring and walking around a new area in your city, is a great way to find new places as well. I enjoy exploring the Leederville, Subiaco and Victoria Park area recently. I found cafes driving by that I'm looking forward to visiting.

It's cool to see what inner suburbs have to offer, it's nice to go to a place somewhere that's not busy.

How to do you find new eating places?

My Autumn/Winter Clothes Picks

Hi, how's it going?
Whenever the city I live makes up its mind about the weather, I can’t wait! Living in Perth the situation with the weather is one day a sunny day, the next a cloudy rainy day.
Anyway with the end of summer and spring comes winter and autumn. It's not my favourite weather but its means warmer clothes and recently I have bought new items and  which was excellent to wear for this weather.

Here are my clothes picks

pssh: there is a lot of black, I do wear other colours.

High Waisted Jeans:
Last year I bought my first high waisted jeans and fell in love. I bought another pair recently that I had missed out on last year because they were sold out. I’m happy I bought the jeans before they sold out again.

Boots:

Yes, boots have become one of my favourite pair of shoes over the last two years for the cold season. I have always tend go for sneakers or sandals. After pulling out a pair of boots I bought years back I started wearing it with jeans and I enjoy the extra height even though I’m 5’9.
Bexar Buckle Boot
Leather Jacket:
I have wanted a leather jacket for years now but never found one that I like. This year it’s my mission to get a leather jacket. I think they give a edge and works with everything.  I have looked at different shops and seen the different style real or not real leather material. A lovely girl on my contiki tour had the leather jacket I wanted. I knew straight away it was from Topshop.

Long Sleeve Bodysuit:
I'm going to be honest, I didn't like bodysuits in the beginning. I didn't get the point, until I told myself to try it on in a shop one day and- now I like them more. The fact their is a variety in colours and sleeve length is good, because you can wear one for all occasions. Even if you prefer a crop long sleeve top it's awesome!
